AI Reports on Cambodia (2009-2010)
Amnesty International have recently published two reports on state crime in Cambodia. The first, titled ‘Rights Razed: Forced Evictions in Cambodia’ was published in 2009 and addressed corruption in the resolution of land disputes in Cambodia. It may be read here. The second, titled ‘Breaking the Silence: Sexual Violence in Cambodia’ was published in 2010. It addresses how corruption and official violence undermine the rule of law. Rape victims face a police force that demands bribes and often offers an informal settlement rather than bringing the perpetrator to justice. In two cases discussed in the report the rapists themselves were police officers. The report may be read here.
