Myanmar/Burma: Lawyer Network and Justice Trust report on Letpadaung copper mine controversy
A report launched by the Lawyer Network (Myanmar) and Justice Trust (USA) on 14 February 2013 follows recent controversy surrounding the Letpadaung copper mine project. The project is a joint-venture between the military-owned Union of Myanmar Economic Holdings Limited and China’s Wanbao Mining company. In the early hours 29 November 2012 police launched a violent crackdown on monks and villagers staging peaceful protests in relation to the project.
