CMAP (click to visit the CMAP site) uses cinema as a medium for violated communities to share their experiences in order to empower them in the pursuit of justice. Its films provide an essential and poignant insight into the harsh reality of the situation for the waterfront community of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. Countering and discrediting the claims of Governor Amaechi of Rivers State, CMAP provides an international exposé of the criminal acts behind the federal government’s plans for commercial development in the region. The personal experiences of the victims of state sponsored violence in Bundu Ama in late 2009 are communicated in such an affectingly personal manner that the films’ audience cannot avoid recognising the immoral irrationality of the government’s actions.

CMAP is partnered with King’s College London, Roehampton University, Amnesty International, SERAP and Simon Kennedy. Its campaign is supported by DFID, the Dutch ministry of Foreign Affairs and USIP.  Watch the CMAP video here.
